| Conclusion
Congratulations! You have just completed the second part of your community quest. In this section, you learned of the components that affect a community formation and settlement. You also saw how people choose communities based on economic need, safety, socialization, and ethnic traditions.
As you conclude your study, it may help to think of the community as a giant puzzle. You begin putting a puzzle together by fitting pieces together, one by one. When all of the pieces are in place an image or picture is revealed. It is the same way with a community. You begin a community with certain pieces, such as people or industry, and add other pieces such as architecture, transportation, or social traditions to create the community picture. In a puzzle, when one piece is removed it dramatically changes the image of the puzzle, leaving it incomplete. Similarly, if you remove a piece from the community, such as industry, the community picture will change.
You have one more Community Quest unit to venture into. In the third unit you will learn how science and technology can influence and change community. It will also help you to understand how your community relates to state, national and global history. |
